Traffic on the internet has been steadily moving from being mostly in the clear to being mostly encrypted, and as of today anywhere between 70% and 90% of it is encrypted. Though malicious traffic has been lagging the adoption of encryption, it is quickly catching up. More and more malwares are downloaded using https (drive-by downloads) and more command and control communication channels are encrypted.
