How would you feel if you were stuck at your desk for more than two whole months? Bored? Tired? Uncomfortable? If you work in a traditional office, you’ll probably know. A survey of 1,250 office workers found that eight in ten (81 percent) spend between four and nine hours a day sitting at their desks – equating to around 67 sedentary days each per year. Almost two thirds (64 percent) thought their working environment had a negative impact on their health.
Fortunately, the world of work is changing. These days, people want to work in more mobile and flexible environments; by that they mean that they want wireless devices, a high quality Wi-Fi network, and a progressive business culture that enables them to flex the time and the place that the work gets done. Analysts Gartner predict that by 2020, organizations that support ‘choose your own workstyle’ (CYOW) will boost employee retention rates by more than 10 percent.

A 2016 study found that organisations that were rated ‘pioneers’ by their employees with respect to mobile device enablement saw a 16 percent boost in productivity, as well as increases in creativity (18 percent), satisfaction (23 percent) and loyalty (21 percent) when compared to companies that ranked poorly with respect to supporting mobile technology.
