Our customers and partners consistently see that the unified communications solutions they offer based around Microsoft Skype for Business enable their end customers’ businesses to improve productivity and save money whilst being easy to use.

Improve productivity

Research carried out in 2017 has shown that employees in the US and Western Europe spend over two-thirds of their time connecting and collaborating. However, nearly 15 percent of total work time is wasted due inefficient communications, resulting in an average loss of £7,700 annually per employee.  In another study, 86 percent of executives blamed lack of collaboration for workplace failures.

Unified communications enable workers to communicate effortlessly, regardless of device or where they are situated. Using Skype for Business, end users can see when others are available and can collaborate with online or video meetings and work together on documents or shared whiteboards. By working closely with your end customers to understand their goals, and their current communications constraints, you can offer UC solutions that promise significant productivity benefits.

Save money

Unified communication solutions can save your customers money in a number of ways.  Microsoft have used their own organisation as a testbed for Skype for Business and found that reduced travel led to the biggest savings: they claim to save £65million per year in trips not taken. Whilst this is based on their 100,000 employees, the principle applies to all sizes of business.  Research in the UK shows that more than a third of workers spend an average of eight working days away from their desks per month. By looking at current costs, and estimating the potential savings, you can help your end customers understand the ROI of the UC solution you are working with them to implement.

Easy to use

If technology isn’t easy to use, it can be rejected by its intended users, or by the IT teams responsible for implementing and maintaining it. The technology that people use in their homes is now driving what they expect to use at work. Skype for Business mirrors what many employees are already using, and it supports BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), as it can easily be installed on users’ own devices, again making it familiar and accessible.”

Customers expect a great user experience from their UC solution. There are numerous products and services available which can extend the Microsoft Skype for Business platform, improving ease of use and quality. For example, handsets, headsets and peripherals can improve the experience of voice or video calls, maintenance services can ensure that the solution is always available, and training services help end customers get the best from the solution.

Steve Harris, EVP unified communications, Nuvias and managing director SIPHON says that “most employees have had access to a similar experience to unified communications in their personal lives via Skype and Facetime and now demand this in the workplace.
