‘Born in the cloud’ employees in demand
‘Born in the cloud’ is not a new term, but it usually refers to software and services. However, in 2020 we will see a demand for ‘born in the cloud’ employees who put the cloud first and who use it as a default option.
A new generation of ‘cloud-first’ people, who do not require to be ‘converted’ to the cloud, will start to drive IT department’s strategies. At Nuvias, we recognise the importance of this trend and we’ll be looking for ‘born in the cloud’ talent that will drive business forward over the next decade.
Cloud-based Robotic Process Automation (RPA) goes mainstream
Say the word ‘robots’, and you imagine hi-tech factories and physical robotic butlers. But 2020 will be the year when RPA will become a common term in the enterprise computing world. The idea is that cloud services can automate and execute repetitive tasks and enable users to set up their own rules, conditions and actions to execute automatically.
The multi-cloud application long tail will just get longer
Cloud-based DevOps tools such as GitHub and CloudBees, are helping to drive faster apps and services development for the masses via the cloud. In the same way as we access applications and micro services on our mobile phones, we’ll be able to access enterprise applications hosted on the cloud.
This long tail of micro applications and services is destined to grow and become the way we access software and services. It’s important to ensure your network is up to supporting the increased load. Network optimisation solutions are available from companies like Riverbed, Gigamon and SD-WAN vendor Versa.
The cloud will reach the edge
Workloads are moving back from the cloud to edge devices. As these edge devices gain more power and capability, we see more storage and functionality being delivered at the edge of customers’ networks, empowering cloud services. 2020 may see the move to the edge gathering pace. If this happens, network and application optimisation technologies will become even more important.
